Easter Sunday at Carson Pass – Moon Crescent Couloir

Conditions looked good for getting some of the last wintery snow of the season on Sunday so we decided to get an early start and head down to Carson Pass to ski the Moon Crescent Couloir on Round Top. Our early start was rewarded when we were already on the summit when we saw the first of several other parties approaching the area. We got a couple of amazing powder turns on the hanging snowfield then a quick traverse into the couloir for some more steep turns on nice chalky winter snow. A quick traverse at the bottom of the couloir got us untouched boot deep pow turns down to Winnemucca lake where some friendly fellow skiers shared their whiskey with us. Talk about an awesome Easter morning! (click on any of the pictures below for the full size version)
