This hat appears to be a bit goofy but is very effective. I work as a soil scientist in the valley bottom and mountain tops of the Nevada deserts. The wide brim keeps the sun off my nose and face unlike any other wide brimmed hat I own. The mesh head adjustment allows the wind to blow through your hair keeping you cool or at least drying the sweat from your brow. Because of the wide brim design the hat easily catches the wind and can be quickly torn from your head so, the chin strap is a must to keep the hat securely on. Wearing the hat takes a bit getting used to but after the first long hot day with no sun burn on my nose I have been wearing it ever since.
