Squaw Valley Disc Golf
A burly, physically demanding course, Squaw Valley Disc Golf is high elevation play at its most rugged and beautiful.
Opened in 2010, Squaw Valley's summer-only course is our region's newest disc golf addition. Players can pay to ride the resort's iconic Cable Car up to the 8200' elevation start at High Camp, or take a long hike uphill. Three beginner holes are inviting for novices at the start, then the remaining 15 holes are dubbed 'extreme,' winding down under the resort's Solitude chairlift. Hole 3 is this course's signature feature - a par 4 with a 1080' downhill to an 'island in the sky' basket. The granite on the Squaw Valley Disc Golf Course makes for a unique playing experience. Players can purchase discs at the High Camp Bath & Tennis Shop at the top of the Cable Car.
For this tricky course, you'll need both an accurate distance driver.
To get to the Squaw Valley Disc Golf Course, take Hwy 89 south from Truckee towards Lake Tahoe/Tahoe City/Squaw Valley and turn right on Squaw Valley Rd. Follow to the resort's base area and take the cable car up to High Camp for $29 (check for price changes). Or, make a big day out of it and hike the 3 mile trail uphill from the base area. Hole 1 is next to High Camp, and plays down towards Shirley Lake. Pack water - once you leave High Camp you won't have access to drinking water.
