Kirkwood Disc Golf
High elevation disc golf - the entire Kirkwood Disc Golf Course is located at over 8,000 feet
Although located a bit out of the way at Kirkwood Mountain Resort off of Highway 88, about half an hour south of South Lake Tahoe, this course is one of the most beautiful and challenging around. To find first tee, park at the resort and head uphill by Number 9 chairlift and Timber Creek. Maps are available in the Red Cliffs Day Lodge.
Kirkwood Disc Golf features the most elevation change of any course in the area so be sure to bring a nice pair of hiking shoes for the climbs. It's also the highest altitude course in the area, with a base of 7,800 feet. Due to this altitude and the heavy snowfall, this course is usually the last to melt out in the spring and the first to be buried by the snow in the fall. During its relatively short season, Kirkwood Disc Golf is a beautiful and unique place for a round.
