Great All Around Day Backpack! Date Posted:2010-03-31 Posted By:Dave Location: Kings Beach, CA United States
Comments: Overall, this is a great little pack that carries everything you need for a summer day "hike" or a day at the beach. The 24 liter capacity is perfect for me. I find 30+ liter day packs a little too big for most summer uses and often a small hydration pack is not big enough. The ACT Trail 24 fills this niche beautifully. I took the pack out on a 3 hour afternoon "hike" and it carried everything I needed nicely, including extra food and water for the dog. I could see this pack being my Go To "backpack" for most summer activities including hikes, "bike" commuting, and days at the beach.

Comments: After using this pack I realize how versatile it is. The mix of external pocket types (zippered, mesh and bucket) makes it easy to stash snacks, a jacket and "gloves" for quick access. I also like the "U" shape zippered access to the main body of the pack. In fact I find it easiest to load and unload the pack using "U" shaped zipper. Another plus, especially living in the Northwest is the built in rain cover.

Comments: I had been looking for just the right size day "hiking" pack for the last year and I finally found it. This day pack fits my short torso and the adjustable straps allow me to fit it to my frame. It holds all my gear and flower "books" with easy access from the top and back. I highly recommend it.
A great day pack Date Posted:2010-08-29 Posted By:Tom Location: Newnan, GA United States
Comments: I just purchased the Act Trail 24 and love it. I tried the highly rated "Gregory" packs Z30 and Z35 and also the highly touted "Osprey" Stratos 24 but none had the features that the "Deuter" had nor did they look or feel as well made. I kept coming back to the Deuter. Yes the "Deuter" is just a little heavier but I would rather have quality and know my pack is not going to fail out on the trail.
Thanks for a great product and I can now find the perfect "Deuter" pack for extended trips.
Great minimalist pack Date Posted:2010-12-20 Posted By:Shayne Location: Vancouver, BC Canada
Comments: My final score is actually 4.5. I love this pack. It's light, has great support, and has a very smart design. You can tell right away that someone was thinking out of the box with this one. Right away, you'll notice excellent pockets on the top pouch and side. Large front pocket fits a "helmet" and the both. Zipper allows you to easily access the bottom of the bag. One thing I really like about this bag is that it is a no frills pack. The features are just right for the size. In fact I'm going to take it on a cabin trip as it has a surprisingly roomy design. It also comes with a lower pouch with a rain cover... I would say this is one of the best 24L packs you can get for the price. The build quality is standard and i haven't noticed any faults. One downside is that it doesn't use the Futura system... So ventilation isn't as good, but the U-frame is better than flat non system packs and still provides some air. I would recommend this pack for quick weekend trips, the 32L might be better for longer overnighters
